Abstract

Technology has brought about a change in the routine of teenagers in secondary schools in Santo Domingo, who are spending more and more time in front of a screen. The prominence of technology over other productive activities, such as physical activities, is evident. The justification for addressing this problem is that the excessive use of technological devices during free time and the decline in the active practice of physical exercises or participation in sports clubs in adolescents is directly associated with sedentary lifestyles, which according to the specifications of international institutions, they counteract the health of the individual. The objective was to analyze the relationship between digital leisure and physical activity of students in Secondary Schools. The methodology used focuses on the quantitative with a non-experimental transectional correlational design. The population of this study is 416 students from four secondary schools in the public and private sectors, with a sample of 200 students to whom two instruments were applied; a first instrument the Digital Leisure Questionnaire (OCDI) and the second the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). The data will be treated and analyzed Statistical Package the Social Sciences (SPSS), where the measures of central tendency will be calculated, to later carry out a correlation with the Rho Spearman coefficient. The data is in the process of analysis; the result is expected to show a significant correlation between the use of digital leisure and the lack of physical activity.
