The adaptation of the educational community to the situation of confinement caused by COVID-19 generated a wide range of new needs and challenges that tried to be addressed in the most creative and efficient way possible. In the case of the Dominican Republic, the development of the 2020-2021 school year was proposed as an alternative through the integration of radio, television and booklets, based on the generation of content aimed at the different grades and levels.
This work represents a component of a larger work, focusing specifically on the level of learning achieved by secondary school students in the general modality through distance education implemented by the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic, in the 2020-2021 school year, presenting the average performance of the twelve communities where the study was conducted.
The methodology used is exploratory descriptive with a mixed approach. The study was carried out in the period from November 2020 to June 2021, in ten different geographic demarcations and twelve educational centers. For the collection of information, six instruments were used and the techniques of semi-structured interview, evidence collection and observation were applied. The processing of the information was carried out through the creation of a Microsoft Excel Programmed Book, using programming in Visual Basic.
On average, less than 50% of the students managed to appropriate the knowledge raised in the booklets, however, seeing the cases in a disaggregated way, promising results are found.
