The problem lies in identifying a clear conceptual framework that defines the technical and pedagogical competencies necessary for teacher training for the effective implementation of STEAM. This study is justified by the need to improve teacher training in these skills, with the aim of ensuring success in the adoption of the STEAM methodology.

The methodology used in this research is a systematic review of the literature to rigorously collect, evaluate and synthesize the evidence available in previous studies on this topic.

Regarding the results of the review, they indicate a direct relationship between success in the implementation of the style and the mastery of specific competencies by teachers. These competencies include advanced skills in technology, interactive teaching methods, and the ability to integrate creatively multiple disciplines within the curriculum.

It is concluded that teacher training programs should focus on developing these key competencies to improve educational effectiveness in the context of STEAM. By doing so, the benefits of this methodology will increase, promoting a more comprehensive education according to current needs.
Sobeida del Carmen Moronta Diaz Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/274 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Improving Mathematics Teaching in Primary Education: Reflections on Teacher Specialization Funded by INAFOCAM https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/352
Specialization in mathematics teaching is crucial for educators to address the challenges of a constantly evolving and technologically advanced education system, thereby contributing to educational quality. However, it is observed that many teachers opt for specializations in educational management or higher education, often driven by incentives rather than solid academic preparation in mathematics. This limits their ability to implement effective pedagogical practices. Some experienced teachers show a lack of interest in continuous professional development, preferring traditional methods, and it is perceived that updating courses rarely enhance pedagogical practice. To address these issues, a quantitative study was conducted to evaluate the impact of mathematics teaching specialization funded by INAFOCAM. The research covered the practical application of knowledge acquired by teachers and their mentors in various educational contexts. The results indicate that specialization has a significantly positive impact on educational practice and professional development, with most participants working in educational centers and having a background in general primary education. Teachers show high confidence in applying the acquired knowledge and have a positive perception of the relevance of the specialization in their daily practice.
Víctor Roldan Núñez Vásquez, Juana Esther Ureña Cortoreal Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/352 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Analysis of Teacher Performance and School Promotion at the Gregorio Luperón Center, District 11-04, 2018-2022 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/250
Low educational quality is a persistent challenge, often attributed to poor teacher performance. This research sought to analyze how teacher performance, evaluated in 2017, influences school promotion and academic achievement at the Gregorio Luperón Educational Center between 2018 and 2022.

A mixed approach was employed, combining documentary-bibliographic, field, and descriptive methods. A representative sample of teachers and administrative staff who participated in the 2017 performance evaluation was selected. A validated questionnaire with closed-ended questions was used to collect data.

The results revealed a direct correlation between teacher performance and student promotion. Teachers with higher evaluations in 2017 tended to have students with better promotion and achievement rates. Most teachers received basic or unsatisfactory performance ratings, although their self-perception was more positive. The average school promotion rate was 77.4%, with variations between years.

The study confirms the influence of teacher performance on student achievement. Improving the quality of teaching, through continuous training and support for teachers, emerges as a key strategy to address low educational quality and increase promotion rates at the Gregorio Luperón Educational Center.
Juan Orlando Cueto Santos, Lisbeth Díaz Morel Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/250 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Impact of pedagogical support on teacher professional development https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/286
The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact that pedagogical support has as a strategy on the professional development of Natural Sciences teachers. At Escuela Normal Experimental Miguel Hidalgo, most students did not choose teaching as their first option, which poses serious issues for their academic performance and future professional development. This research aims to analyze students’ motivations and their level of vocation, in order to identify patterns and propose strategies to improve the vocational selection process.

The study followed a descriptive quantitative approach with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. A simple random sampling was applied, selecting 30 % of the total population of 465 students. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire that measured motivations, level of vocation, and perceptions of the teaching profession. The analysis included descriptive statistics and comparative tests (t-tests and ANOVA).

The results revealed a low level of vocation in both programs, with significant differences between Primary and Preschool Education. Additionally, a decrease in satisfaction with the career over the years was observed, particularly in Primary Education.

The conclusion highlights the existence of a vocational crisis that may negatively affect the quality of teacher training and the students’ future performance. This satisfaction may vary according to different personal or contextual variables, such as the extent to which teachers feel that their basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence and relationship) are satisfied, their satisfaction with the salary they receive, the level at which they teach, or the number of students they serve. The aim of this research was to determine to what extent the personal and contextual variables mentioned above are related to teacher job satisfaction. The instruments used were the Job Satisfaction Scale-Teacher Version (ESL-VP) and the Bassic Psychological Need Satisfaction Scale (BPNSFS), translated and adapted to the work context of teachers. This study has shown, in general terms, that teacher job satisfaction is higher among teachers who are satisfied with their salary. Certain dimensions of job satisfaction are also higher among those who have fewer students to serve and teach in primary school. It has also been observed that the basic psychological need that correlates to a greater extent with teacher job satisfaction is that of autonomy. These results provide a glimpse of factors that should be taken into account in order to maintain a high level of teacher satisfaction.
Arantza Fernández-Zabala, Karen Y. However, high demands in the educational field have led to an increase in cases of symptoms of Burnout syndrome in education professionals. This study aims to examine the presence of Burnout Syndrome and the factors associated with stress perceived by teachers in the second cycle of secondary level. The study adopted a mixed approach, the sample is made up of 90 teachers in the second cycle of primary level. The results showed that teachers suffer from some symptom related to the dimensions of Burnout, since they are located at high levels of emotional exhaustion (37.8%) and experience depersonalization (30%). On the other hand, in personal achievement, they have low levels (96.7%). It is concluded that teachers present symptoms associated with Burnout syndrome, since they mostly reached high levels in aspects of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, although with low levels in personal achievement, therefore, it is suggested to develop support strategies aimed at improving teachers’ well-being.
Ernesto Mendieta Contreras, Yarieliza Piña de León Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/304 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 School Accountability within the Dominican Republic: A qualitative study of school principals’ believes and Knowledge https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/349
The school accountability system (SAS) in the Dominican Republic involves assessments, data reporting, and principal training for school improvement. Although it does not include direct consequences, it emphasizes measuring and reporting student achievement, implying a level of responsibility for teachers and principals in school outcomes. This study addressed the lack of research on principals’ knowledge of school accountability and their use of it to enhance performance. The purpose was to capture principals’ perspectives on the system and their roles in data-driven school improvement, as well as to explore differences between higher and lower-performing schools.

This qualitative research employed an interpretative approach, interviewing ten principals in Santo Domingo. Findings indicate that while all principals are aware of SAS, their understanding varies. Most recognize its elements and use data for analysis, sharing, and feedback with teachers, students, parents, and the broader school community. They see accountability as a key tool for school quality management and improvement. However, the depth of their knowledge and data utilization varies.

All participants view themselves as leaders, balancing pedagogical tasks, operational factors, and motivation. They acknowledged their dual roles as both managers and leaders, with most prioritizing the leadership of the pedagogical process. However, none explicitly identified with the concept of instructional leadership. Differences emerged between principals in higher and lower-performing schools, linked to their understanding of school accountability and data use. These insights suggest a need for further development in principals’ instructional leadership to foster improved school outcomes.
Massiel Cohen Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/349 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Boosting general culture in students with oral news presentations https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/288
The purpose of the research was to determine the impact of news on the general culture of primary and secondary school students at Colegio Intelecto in Santiago, Dominican Republic, through oral presentations developed by the director at the opening ceremony. Autonomy in decision-making, especially in the management of resources and in the use of the Center Board, is essential to implement educational programs and improvement plans. However, some centers face difficulties due to a lack of autonomy, which affects the application of educational policies and the improvement of results. It is important to study how autonomy can benefit the management of the Board of Centers to promote more efficient practices and improve the management structure.

The methodology consisted of a structured survey distributed to 25 directors through a Google form. The survey addressed the perception of autonomy, the role of the Center Board and efficiency in school management. The responses, obtained through closed questions, were analyzed to identify patterns and relationships between autonomy, Board participation and management efficiency.

The results reveal a wide variability in the perception of autonomy, from “very autonomous” to “not autonomous at all.” However, the majority consider that the Center Board is essential for effective school management and that autonomy contributes positively. Psikor has identified key variables affecting this adjustment, classifying them into contextual and psycho-instructional variables, which led to the development of the Psikor Model, a comprehensive framework for psychoeducational interventions. This study presents a psychoeducational program designed for families of adolescents with the aim of improving their psychosocial adjustment based on this model. An extensive review of evidence-based psychoeducational programs in Spain was conducted, focusing on psychological and socio-personal adjustment variables. A program targeting families was designed after contacting various Parent-Teacher Associations (AMPAS) in the Basque Autonomous Community, achieving the participation of 40 parents who evaluated the training alongside six trainers. The program consisted of eight weekly sessions addressing topics such as adolescent characteristics, self-concept, parental styles, emotional intelligence, and resilience. The training was implemented by six qualified professionals using digital platforms. Questionnaires were used to evaluate session satisfaction. The results reflect a positive assessment of the program and an improvement in perception of educational practices. This program represents a significant advancement in applying research on psychosocial adjustment, offering practical strategies to improve parental skills and students’ school adjustment.
Lorea Azpiazu Izaguirre, Elda Ugarte Mota, María Sánchez Gómez, Eider Goñi Palacios Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/380 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Analysis of the perception of the use of artificial intelligence in the teaching-learning process in Dominican university students https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/356
The perception of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the teaching-learning process among Dominican university students has recently been the subject of study, revealing diverse attitudes and a growing interest in its integration. The research focused on undergraduate students from ISFODOSU, UTESA, UAPA, and UASD. The results indicated that, without proper guidance from teachers, students tend to use AI as a tool for studying and generating texts, considering it an ally in their educational process. However, there is also a perceived low openness from teachers towards the integration of this technology. Additionally, it has been observed that the use of AI in academic writing is on the rise, although concerns about ethics and learning quality are emerging.
Ceferina Cabrera Félix, Armando Guillermo Antúnez Sánchez, Rosario Ynmaculada Cáceres Tejada Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/356 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 The Role of the Teacher in Integrating Technology to Promote Critical Reading in Primary Education https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/256
In primary education, the teacher is essential for students to acquire critical reading skills. The strategies, activities and resources used by teachers must be constantly analyzed and refined. According to Pinto Maldonado (2021), technological advancement, especially through social networks, offers new opportunities to develop this skill. Teachers act as guides in the implementation of innovative tools that develop critical and reflective reading, integrating technology effectively into the educational process. This study focuses on two objectives: observing the pedagogical processes that foster critical reading competence, and integrating technological resources to enrich teaching strategies, providing diverse and relevant learning experiences. To achieve these objectives, 15 primary school teachers were surveyed, 40 students were evaluated, and 4 classes were observed to evaluate the pedagogical processes used. As results in the teaching methodological strategies, evident strengths in teaching planning stand out. On the other hand, even though classrooms are equipped with technology, many teachers lack the skills to use these tools to teach critical reading. In conclusion, this research suggests that appropriate pedagogical strategies can improve the understanding and analysis of texts, while highlighting the importance of addressing challenges such as technological mastery and disciplinary management in the classroom.
Yarisa Ferreras Dotel, Maribel Núñez-Méndez Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/256 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Perceptions of Participants and Teachers of Basic Education for Youth and Adults Regarding Implications for the Educational and Labor Future 2023-2024 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/283
The Education of Young People and Adults (EYPA) is key to personal empowerment and social transformation. In this context, a quantitative study with an exploratory-descriptive cross-sectional field design was carried out in 7 universities in Bogotá, Colombia, to analyze the relevant factors of university dropout and propose options to improve student retention in higher education. The study examined the expectations, and economic, institutional, and academic factors of students who abandoned their university studies. The findings indicate that despite high expectations of remaining in university and proportional behaviors in their university experience, there are still barriers that impede student retention, such as lack of economic resources and academic demotivation. Therefore, it is necessary to implement measures to improve the quality of education, academic support, and financial and emotional assistance to university students to improve retention and academic success in higher education.
Sandra Patricia Pinto Espinosa, Elkin Arturo Betancourt Ramirez Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/353 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Inclusive Educational Centers: Conditions of Universal Accessibility in Aspects of Infrastructure, Communication and Management https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/331
This study aims to diagnose the conditions of universal accessibility in the educational centers of the Educational District 0403 San Cristóbal Sur, to identify potential barriers that hinder accessibility for the inclusion of people with disabilities. Collaborative work becomes a solution when the educational inclusion of said schoolchildren is also a priority. The objective of this article is to offer a set of recommendations that enable speech therapy care for schoolchildren with stuttering through collaborative work. The research is carried out in three primary schools in the Santa Clara municipality, Villa Clara, Cuba. A qualitative approach is used, with collaborative action research as a methodological strategy. The use of theoretical level methods made it possible to determine the theoretical-methodological foundations, their analysis and logical ordering. The application of empirical level methods led to the determination of particularities of the object of study and their expression in the regularities that characterize it. As a result, a set of recommendations for caring for schoolchildren with stuttering through collaborative work is prepared. These recommendations are part of the generalization tasks proposed in the territorial project “Educational inclusion in the socio-educational network.” The holistic vision of the problem addressed by the proposed research makes it possible for schoolchildren with stuttering to receive speech therapy attention focused on their full development and that guarantees their social inclusion.
Merling Murguia Moré, Tania Hernández Nodarse Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/269 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Media competencies of teachers at a school for the deaf in the Dominican Republic https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/318
Media competencies deal with the development of capacities to interact with the media and information in a creative and critical way, it is therefore necessary for teachers at all educational levels to manage them. In particular, if they are deaf students, they should receive an education more focused on their needs and characteristics. This work aims: to know the opinions of teachers in schools for deaf people on the use of media skills. It is a study with a quantitative approach and exploratory-descriptive scope, where a standardized quantitative questionnaire was applied, which collects the opinions of 71 teachers from a School for the Deaf in the Dominican Republic. The results show that teachers have an acceptable level of knowledge of sign language; Their training in the use of technology and digital communication skills is low, as is their level of experience with the use of software and applications designed for deaf people. On the other hand, teachers believe that when they use ICT, the level of communication of deaf students increases; Furthermore, they consider that at the center there is a high level of collaboration on the part of the teachers, when their experiences with media competencies are shared.
Teresa De Jesús González, Rogel Rojas Bello Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/318 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Analysis of Physical Activity, Nutrition and Mental Health in the students of the María de la Altagracia Polytechnic https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/279
This study addresses the relevance of healthy habits, specifically physical activity, nutrition, and mental health in students. We have seen how sedentary lifestyle in schools has had a significant increase, resulting in a decrease in academic performance and preventing the full development of students. Regarding the nutrition of students, this is a broad field of study. However, it is necessary to point out that students in the educational center do not follow an adequate or balanced diet, lacking the minerals, vitamins, and proteins necessary for optimal metabolism and body functioning. Likewise, we see that 25 % of the population has suffered from some mental or behavioral disorder, caused by various factors, environment, customs, habits, and physical inactivity, the latter being prominent. Therefore, we seek to analyze the habits of physical activity, nutrition, and mental health in high school students. To this end, we conducted quantitative research, with a descriptive study of variables, non-experimental and cross-sectional by means of a survey. The data were processed in the statistical software IBM SPSS 27. Showing that more than 62.4 % of male and female students are sedentary. Likewise, they have bad eating habits. In addition, more than 87.9 % have medium levels of anxiety and depression. Concluding that most high school students are sedentary. Likewise, they have an unbalanced diet. Despite the enactment of legal frameworks such as the General Education Law 66-97 and Law 5-13, designed to protect the rights of people with disabilities, music instruction aimed at the deaf population remains an underexplored field in the country, potentially leading to the exclusion of this group. According to Lorenzo (2014), music is a universal form of expression that transcends linguistic and cultural barriers and is not reserved solely for hearing individuals. Through the application of techniques with a qualitative approach, the main challenge of this study is to explore the competencies that teachers possess for implementing music education with deaf students. In this context, it was observed, based on the applied instruments, that the majority of teachers have not had previous experience teaching music to people with hearing disabilities, as their foundational training has not included this type of specialized instruction. Despite these challenges, teachers express an interest in exploring alternative methods and receiving training, suggesting a potential path towards more inclusive pedagogical approaches.
Tracy Magdiel Castillo Sandoval Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/322 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Mastery of Grammatical Competence among Teachers in the English Foreign Language Area https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/257
Mastery of a foreign language has become an increasingly important issue in the Dominican Republic, especially for foreign language teachers, particularly those who teach English. These professionals are committed to ongoing training and achieving proficiency in the language, aware of their role in opening up new opportunities for their students. The development of this linguistic competence not only facilitates access to international scholarships and cultural exchange programs, but also promotes the integration of students into a more competitive labor market, with opportunities for decent and well-paid employment. Grammatical competence is the central focus of many foreign language (English) teachers nationwide, which is why it is relevant to investigate their level of proficiency in this specific area.

This research adopted a descriptive methodological approach. The sample consisted of eight extended-day polytechnic educational centers, all located in urban areas, with a total of 16 foreign language (English) teachers. A diagnostic assessment focused on grammatical competence, consisting of ninety-nine items, was used as a data collection tool. The results revealed that the participants had a level of English classified as upper intermediate. However, significant difficulties were evident in specific areas, particularly in the use of the gerund and in the formulation of questions in the present perfect tense. In conclusion, the study recommends that it is necessary to continue strengthening teachers’ skills by implementing programs tailored to their particular needs. It is also crucial that similar studies be conducted in other educational districts to obtain other perspectives on the grammatical competence of teachers in the area of English as a foreign language.
Luis Hernández López Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/257 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Empowering women through physical activity, promoting quality physical education at ISFODOSU https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/336
At ISFODOSU, Luis Napoleón Núñez Molina Campus, it is observed that women’s participation in physical activities is low due to social, cultural and structural barriers, which perpetuate gender stereotypes and discourage their involvement in sports. In this sense, the study aims to promote the empowerment of women through participation in physical activities and the development of Quality Physical Education (QPE) in this institution. The approach is quantitative with descriptive approach. A Google Form with 9 multiple-choice items was applied to 53 female students of the RLNNM, using a non-probabilistic sample by convenience. The results show that 84.9% of the respondents participate occasionally in physical activities, 7.5% several times a week, 5.7% daily and 1.9% once a week. This reflects the low frequency of participation in physical activities. It is concluded that gender stereotypes, lack of adequate infrastructure and limited schedules influence the low female participation, evidencing the need to implement measures to promote women’s empowerment and participation in sports.
Kirsiry Vargas-Peralta, Josdy Iluminada Gerónimo-Peña, Miguel Israel Bennasar-García Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/336 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Implementation of teacher-created audiovisual materials to deliver curricular content, school year 2023-2024 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/238
The main objective of this research is to implement audiovisual materials created by teachers as educational resources for teaching curricular content in the second cycle of primary education at the Antonio Tiburcio Ruiz Educational Center in the Educational District 04-02 San Cristóbal during the 2023-2024 school year. The results show that teachers value IAG as a tool to personalize and enrich learning, adapting to the needs of students. However, the lack of specialized training and limited institutional support stand out as challenges. Ethical concerns also arise, such as the dehumanization of the educational process and excessive technological dependence, which could limit students’ critical capacity and problem-solving autonomy. In addition, they point out the risk that AI generates misinformation, underlining the need for rigorous control in its use. They conclude that the IAG can be an ally in professional technical education, as long as adequate training of teachers and awareness of its critical and ethical use is guaranteed. This translated into a rapid transition to virtual education as a measure to continue teaching during lockdowns. In the context of the Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Education (MINERD) was implementing the Digital Republic program, which had distributed more than 300,000 electronic devices to secondary schools as of March 2020. However, due to the pandemic and the change of government, there was a redirection of these devices toward teachers. A bidding process was then initiated to acquire the missing devices for secondary school students, as well as those at the primary level.

The purpose of this research is to diagnose the use of ICT in management processes in educational centers in the 04-03 San Cristóbal Sur district. The quantitative approach was assumed. The research results show that these technologies are fundamental in the daily management of the centers. 86.7 % of the members of the management teams use ICT daily in their work, both in the pedagogical dimension and in the administrative aspects of the operation of the educational center, which shows that they have become essential tools in the school context. The prominence of technology over other productive activities, such as physical activities, is evident. The justification for addressing this problem is that the excessive use of technological devices during free time and the decline in the active practice of physical exercises or participation in sports clubs in adolescents is directly associated with sedentary lifestyles, which according to the specifications of international institutions, they counteract the health of the individual. The objective was to analyze the relationship between digital leisure and physical activity of students in Secondary Schools. The methodology used focuses on the quantitative with a non-experimental transectional correlational design. The population of this study is 416 students from four secondary schools in the public and private sectors, with a sample of 200 students to whom two instruments were applied; a first instrument the Digital Leisure Questionnaire (OCDI) and the second the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). The data will be treated and analyzed Statistical Package the Social Sciences (SPSS), where the measures of central tendency will be calculated, to later carry out a correlation with the Rho Spearman coefficient. However, the initial legislation did not offer a reporting model nor did it consider the student’s socio-emotional development. In 2015, the Community of Madrid introduced an official model that incorporates the evaluation of “Socio-emotional Development”, which implies the need for counselors to implement appropriate instruments and procedures for this. Despite this progress, limitations persist in counseling services, such as the scarcity of adequate tests and the lack of tradition in addressing emotional aspects in school contexts.

The present research used an ad hoc questionnaire distributed to 70 educational counselors from the Community of Madrid to examine their practices and training needs in the evaluation of emotional development. The sample, mostly female, includes counselors with diverse experience, and focuses on the stages of Early Childhood and Primary Education.

The results show that counselors use a limited range of instruments to assess emotional development and many express the need for training in this area. It is, therefore, that in order to know the effectiveness that these policies have had in the educational context, it is necessary to analyze from practice how teachers assumed their training and skills in the use of these tools, as well as the many ways in which this tools are used from the classroom to improve the teaching process. In this sense, through a quantitative study, with a non-experimental-cross-sectional design of a descriptive study and with a probabilistic sample, it is intended to analyze teacher training in ICT in the Dominican Republic and how it is reproduced in the context of the classroom. The results reveal that, despite the high investment in training, traditional teaching practices that are little related to the training received still persist from the classroom. This leads to pay close attention to teacher training processes, as well as their transfer and adaptation to the reality of the classroom.
Jesús Manuel Soriano Alcántara, Bethy Díaz-Vargas, Andrea de los Santos Gelvasio Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/299 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 The value of philosophical thinking in the transformation of educational centers https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/321
This paper presents a series of reflections focused on the need for the insertion of philosophical thought as an inherent element in education, based on the fact that the current logic of the postmodern world inhibits the ability to think critically. In other words, it is intended to exalt the importance of philosophical reflection within school spaces, as a possibility of change for teachers and students, from the theoretical conceptions of the German philosopher Martin Heidegger, placing special emphasis on the possibility of considering a thought meditative in the face of the challenges of current education.
Goretti Manzano Buendía Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/321 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Technological training of mathematics teachers in the use of neuro didactic tools https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/314
The present study focuses on the level of knowledge and use of neurodidactic tools by mathematics teachers, as well as the relationship between technology and neurodidactics in the educational context. The research problem lies in the lack of adequate training in neurodidactics and its impact on mathematics teaching. It is justified by the growing importance of neuroscience in learning and the need for teachers to integrate these strategies. The main objective is to analyze the level of knowledge of teachers about neurodidactics, their attitude towards technology and the technological resources available in educational institutions. The methodology used was quantitative, based on surveys applied to a sample of 18 mathematics teachers.

Data were collected through a structured questionnaire that assessed the level of knowledge in neurodidactics, the attitude towards the use of technology and the resources available in schools. The results indicate that the majority of teachers have a medium or low level of knowledge in neurodidactics, especially in areas such as learning theories based on neuroscience and the functioning of the brain in relation to learning. In turn, teachers expressed a positive attitude towards technology, although they indicated that technological resources in their institutions are limited. In conclusion, greater training in neurodidactics and technology is necessary so that teachers can improve the quality of mathematics teaching and effectively apply these tools in the classroom.
Doris Peña, Eunice Universo Mendez Carvajal Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/314 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Levels of reading comprehension of scientific texts in secondary school: biology case https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/350
Reading comprehension of popular science texts in Biology is crucial for the effective learning of scientific concepts. However, the low level of oral and written competence among first-cycle secondary students presents a significant educational challenge. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the development of this competence in 3rd-grade secondary students in district 15-01. A mixed-methods approach with a descriptive and pre-experimental design was used. Data collection included surveys, diagnostic evaluations, interviews with ten teachers, a focus group with specialists, and classroom observations. The analysis was conducted using SPSS and Atlas.ti software. Findings reveal limitations such as low motivation, limited practice, lack of trained teachers, and unequal access to technological resources. However, positive attitudes were also identified, such as the interest of some teachers in updating their methodologies and the enthusiasm of students motivated by their future aspirations. It is concluded that strengthening teacher training, optimizing the use of available resources, and applying active pedagogical strategies are essential to boosting French language learning and fostering students’ overall development.
Madona Cherestil Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/300 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Musical integration in the learning of subordinate clauses: proposal with songs by Juan Luis Guerra https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/291
Teaching grammar in the classroom frequently faces challenges related to the lack of motivation and relevance perceived by students, who often do not find this learning as an influential factor in oral or written production. This study aims to propose the integration of music, specifically the songs of Juan Luis Guerra, as a pedagogical tool for teaching subordinate clauses in the Dominican context. The justification for this proposal lies in the cultural value of this singer-songwriter’s work, which not only enriches language learning at various levels, but also strengthens cultural identity in a meaningful context. The methodological approach focuses on carrying out a dynamic intervention that has four stages: active listening, selection and analysis of subordinate sentences, pragmatic analysis of the ideas and feelings they transmit and corroboration through the use of ChatGPT, the latter generating the possibility of create a confrontation. This proposal has been validated with students of Morphology and Syntax II of the Bachelor of Spanish Language and Literature of the Salomé Ureña Higher Teacher Training Institute. For the purposes of preliminary findings, the results of a final written test applied in person are shown. The results of the process indicate an increase in students’ motivation and understanding of grammatical structures, evidenced by greater participation and better performance in written tasks and in their cultural development and critical thinking.
Nour Adoumieh Coconas, Audi Chacón Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/291 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 College Board-LATAM Assessment Suite: New PAA Validity Evidence in Latin American https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/317
The PAA is developed and maintained with the continuous support of professionals from Puerto Rico and Latin America. The results of previous versions of the PAA have been related to indicators of academic success of university students both in Puerto Rico (Colorado-Laguna and Corcino-Marrero, 2014, 2013) and in several countries in Latin America (Estépar García and Pedrosa Roche, 2014; Hernández Laboy, Rivera Ocasio, & Pedrosa Roche, 2017; Rivera Ocasio & Hernández Laboy, 2017, González-González y Estépar García, 2023). This study is a quantitative study with a correlational research design with a predictive approach. The objective of this study is to examine the relationship between the scores of the most recent version of the PAA and high school GPA (PEP) with the first year GPA in the context of a Latin American university. The sample for this study corresponds to data provided by a highly selective public university in Mexico, with a sample of 120,732 aspiring students and for the analyses concerning the prediction of the first year gpa a total of 57,037 admitted students. The results show that students with higher scores on the PAA obtain higher grades in their first year of study at the institution, even when controlling for high school gpa. In conclusion, the findings of the study reaffirm what has been observed in previous studies and validates the use of the PAA as a predictor of students’ academic performance in the Latin American context.
Manuel, Carla Mojica de León Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/317 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000 CEPA Inventory: Stability, Differentiation, and Consistency of Occupational Interests https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/319
Although theory suggests that occupational interests tend to stabilize during young adulthood (Cirino, 2012), other findings suggest that this stabilization can occur as early as the 8th grade (Tracey, Robbins & Hofsess, 2005). This article integrates results from three studies conducted to examine issues of stability in occupational interests, as well as occupational differentiation and consistency, as defined by Holland (1973), in a sample of students from Puerto Rico. The methodology used in these investigations is quantitative in nature with a descriptive approach. Overall, the participants in this sample exhibited high levels of stability, differentiation, and consistency. On the other hand, the importance of personalized strategies to guide the occupational development of those students whose occupational profiles are poorly differentiated or of low consistency is emphasized. Additionally, the diversity in personality configurations underscores the need for flexible approaches that consider both the congruence and complexity of students’ interests and abilities.
Ramón Rivera Ocasio, Ariel I. According to specialists, higher education plays a significant role in the economic, social, scientific, and human development of a region. The main findings suggest that universities are one of the most important mechanisms and channels of upward mobility in modern societies. According to the theory of social reproduction, through the different stages of the educational trajectory, agents accumulate a set of capitals in dispute (cultural, economic, social, and symbolic). Through a non-experimental quantitative study with a cross-sectional design, a directed questionnaire consisting of 83 items was applied, measuring in a multidimensional way the process of social mobility in a probabilistic sample of 647 graduates from various undergraduate programs and universities in the Dominican Republic. The results allowed for the construction of a detailed overview of the life trajectory before, during, and after university. In this sense, an intergenerational change was observed in the educational, professional, and labor position of the graduates compared to their familial or social origins. The findings align with the contributions of other studies, which suggest the need to observe the impact of higher education beyond economic achievement, considering its role in the cultural, social, intellectual, and personal transformation of graduates.
Víctor Daniel Guerra Zabala Copyright (c) 2025 Ideice International Congress https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://congresoideice.gob.do/index.php/cii/article/view/598 Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:00:00 +0000
